It is said that Artemis, the Goddess of hunting used to spend time with Orion, which annoyed her brother Apollo because he knew that Orion didn’t have the right intentions with her. He then sent a giant scorpion to kill Orion. The scorpion, managed to kill him. As remembrance of this episode Zeus decided to put both Orion and the giant scorpion up in the skies creating the constellation of Scorpio.

The Scorpion is a very calm animal, that is not aggressive on its own. However when provoked it stings the attacker. Thus the Scorpion is a symbol of danger and resilience. It is quite a difficult animal to understand with its great defense mechanism.

There was an anticipation towards the golden age. The Age of Scorpio was a period when myth and magic where practised as part of life. People started to believe in dragons, unicorns and spirit forces. The Age of Scorpio indicated the last part of the underworld where darkness reigned.
